Based on solar analysis, we have positioned standard classrooms away from the south-west area, designating this zone as an activity space for younger pupils. This approach mitigates the impact of high-rise buildings to the south on classroom sunlight exposure while ensuring the safety of activities for different age groups through spatial separation. The public activity spaces arranged along the eastern road reduce traffic noise interference with teaching while maintaining continuity along the street frontage. Faced with constrained site conditions, we have appropriately developed underground space to enhance campus capacity, thereby freeing up more ground-level activity areas. The gently sloping sunken courtyard not only enables natural light and ventilation within the underground space but also creates an outdoor area for students to relax and play.

In spatial organisation, we strive for diversity, meticulously combining scale, materials and colour to create a learning environment that sparks curiosity. To address the uncertainties of future education, we employ flexible strategies, breaking traditional teaching boundaries through movable partitions and open layouts to forge fluid spaces where learning occurs everywhere. Student work exhibitions are integrated into the overall design, transforming the campus itself into a dynamic educational display. To ensure all pupils have accessible engagement with nature, we have constructed multi-tiered outdoor activity platforms. Notably, the rooftop garden and eastern roofscape platform provide expansive outdoor classrooms while offering panoramic views of the eastern embankment landscape. The basketball hall and music classrooms are independently situated to the north of the teaching block, connected via covered walkways. This arrangement mitigates noise and draught while facilitating post-lesson community access, promoting resource sharing.

This is a modern school that harmonises with nature, coexists with the community, and supports diverse teaching approaches – a school designed for the 21st century.
